60 Recording Artists Performed in front of Sony Urban Music Executive.
Columbus, OH August 5, 2004 -- Singers, rappers, dancers, and producers all came out to the Sony Urban Music Conference on July 17 at the Columbus Convention Center for a chance to be signed by Sony Urban Music. More than 60 acts performed not counting the artists who came out to support the show and submit their music at the A&R booth.
Sony Urban Music A&R representative Joe Cerini said "I thought it was very successful and I look forward to doing this show again next year."
Although Cerini will not divulge how many acts he is interested in, he said he saw several acts perform that displayed talent.
Mixed in the performances, expert panels included Nina Jackson, manager/representative Grimelords/Diplomats (CamRon, Juelz Santana), David Simonette, Rich, Crites & Wasp, LLC (Bow Wow) Rob J. formerly CEO of Mo' Thugs Records (Bone Thugs N Harmony), Owen Ratliff owner Ratti Entertainment (Black Salt Movie) and other talented industry types. The panelists gave advice to the up and coming entertainers.
"I felt that it was a very good opportunity for Ohio to show there talent, and I think the show was a big success" said Patricia Green, SupersonicUSA representative.
"This show was really executed well" said Owen Ratliff, Ratti Records owner from his Los Angeles movie pre-production facility. Ratliff had to immediately fly to Los Angeles to work on a movie, "Black Salt" (www.blacksaltfilm.com) which he is producing "I'm really glad I delayed flying to L.A for this," Ratliff finished.
This is the first Talent Showcase of this magnitude in Ohio, but organizers say it will definitely not be the last. Also at the show several drawings were held for "I, ROBOT" and "Catwoman" prize packages including a "Catwoman" manicure package, which was won by Jannalla Wadlington of Columbus, Ohio.
